​Ready to find your furry soulmate? Before you visit an adoption event, we highly recommend filling out our online Adoption Survey below—think of it as your Golden Ticket that speeds things up and if you’re interested in a particular dog, helps ensure they’ll be there, tail wagging and ready to win you over! Remember, some of our dogs are enjoying their time in foster, and we want to make sure they get the chance to meet you!

Adoption Hours And Events

Get ready to unleash some fun at our weekly adoption events at the ODHS Adoption Center!

We’re welcoming you with open paws every Wednesday 5-7 PM, Friday 6-8 PM, and Saturday 11 AM-3 PM at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, VA. Come meet our adorable adoptable dogs who are just waiting to steal your heart (and maybe a treat or two)! And don’t forget to check out our events calendar under the "Events" tab for more tail-wagging adventures!

Chipped, Snipped And Vaccinated

All of our puppies and dogs available for adoption are:

  • Spayed or neutered to help control the pet population

  • Microchipped so they can be identified and reunited with you if they are ever lost

  • Vaccinated for distemper (DHPP)

  • Vaccinated for rabies (age appropriate)

  • Dewormed, heartworm tested and current on heartworm preventative (age appropriate)

The Adoption Process

Step 1

Search Our Adoptables

After looking at our list of adoptable dogs online, decide who you would like to meet in person. If you can't decide, that's ok! Move onto Step 2 so our ODHS Adoption Team can begin the paperwork!

Step 2

Submit The Survey

Submit your Adoption Survey online identifying the dog(s) you're interested in meeting. There is no commitment should you later decide that another dog better suits your family.

Step 3

Prepare For A Meet & Greet

You'll receive a response to your application from our ODHS Adoption Team via email. If approved, they will coordinate a Meet & Greet for you at an upcoming adoption event.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Adoption Donations

$375 for puppies (under 1 year)
$275 for adults
$175 for seniors
* Select dogs may have a $500 adoption fee.

Adoption donations are accepted by cash, check, debit card, and credit card.

Please remember to bring a martingale collar and a leash with you on adoption day! We can provide a martingale collar and a leash if needed for an additional fee.

A Word About Our Dedicated Volunteers

ODHS is a no-kill, volunteer-led, nonprofit organization that provides well-matched, permanent homes for animals in need through rescue, rehabilitation and education. We are committed to saving dogs, caring for them, and finding them families who will love them forever!

Many of our volunteers have full-time commitments outside of ODHS. Please be patient when submitting your Adoption Survey—it is the fastest way (faster than emailed inquiries)—to receive a response. We appreciate your understanding. Please know that we are just as excited as you are to send you home with your new furry member of the family!
