It's A Difficult Choice
As much as we would rather help you keep your pet, we know that sometimes families are faced with tough decisions and need to consider rehoming.
Old Dominion Humane Society is a no-kill, volunteer-led, nonprofit dog rescue and, as such, have very limited space. If your family has made the difficult decision to surrender your dog and need help, please complete and submit the form below.
Please note that a $100 minimum donation for owner surrenders is required. Currently, we are only accepting surrender requests for dogs who were previously adopted from Old Dominion Humane Society.
If your dog was previously adopted from Old Dominion Humane Society, please send an email to adopt@olddominionhumanesociety.org. We will always take back our ODHS Alumni!

Dogs are sometimes rehomed due to a behavioral issue that could have been resolved through training.

If you have decided to rehome your pet and would like to surrender them to ODHS, please complete the Surrender Application below. We are only able to take in dogs that we have space to responsibly care for. Please answer the application questions honestly and thoroughly.
